Today we wanted to share a very unique opportunity we had to visit the lovely and picturesque Omni Bedford Springs Resort & Spa in Bedford, PA. As background, we received an modern aqua chevron invitation in the mail from the resort asking us to Save-the-Date four weeks ago.

After we received the initial invitation that piqued our interest. We decided to take it to the net and find out more about this resort. While we hadn't heard of it previously, what we found online was intriguing.  Here’s a little bit about the town of Bedford, PA:

Bedford County is located in South Central Pa. The countryside is beautiful, prices are affordable, the people are friendly and there are many family oriented activities to enjoy. The pace is a little slower than most places, and we like it that way!

This quaint little town is in close proximity to wineries, ski lodges, museums, local natural springs, cute antique shops, a covered bridge tour and lots of other outdoor activities.  And just in time for fall, the annual Bedford Fall foliage festival.

Now onto Omni Bedford Springs Resort, located just outside the limits of the town of Bedford Springs, this sprawling 2,200 acre resort with Jeffersonian style white columns, a porte cochere, which also has the luxury Springs Eternal Spa (rated by Travel & Leisure’s list of World’s Best Spa) with a full range of health and beauty treatments as well an impressive golf course. There are also weekly cooking classes and a 'Chef's Table' experience where a group can prepare a meal with the Executive Chef and his culinary team. Among all of this, we also found that the resort had great reviews on Trip Advisor and great reviews on Spa Finder.

Two weeks later, we received a follow-up invitation to a wedding extravaganza at Omni Bedford Springs Resort. With all the online accolades, we were definitely looking forward to the visit especially when we received the agenda for September 17th and 18th.

Our gracious hosts Bryan and Megan arranged a informative and relaxing experience for us including event planners from Pittsburg and Philadelphia. While at the resort, we were able to learn about all the amenities and how this historic hotel, which used to be the “summer White House” for President James Buchanan and also hosted 10 U.S. Presidents, seven of whom visited during their presidency.

Here are some pictures we captured (excuse the fact that some were captured via iPhone) during our visit to Omni Bedford Springs Resort.

The thing that we loved most was hearing that the original glass in some of the windows bear the inscriptions of brides who were married at the resort, dating back to the mid 19th century. We saw a bride and groom’s name along with their wedding date that dated back to 1888 - the start of their life together as husband and wife permanently encased in glass – how special! These small touches as well as the warm and welcoming space of Omni Bedford Springs makes it an amazing place to host a wedding weekend, guys outing (golf, paintball and spa services) a lovely girls-only trip or even a romantic couples getaway.
