We meet people everyday that inspire us so we decided to start a new series on our blog to introduce our fans and followers to some of our favorite people.

First up, we wanted to introduce you to the tremendously loveable and talented Theresa from Theresa Choi Photography. We’ve known Theresa for over four years and have followed her from the launch of her career as a professional wedding photographer to now. We’ve enjoyed watching her transformation and want to share a few of our favorite shots from her portfolio.

How amazing are those shots!? Theresa has a signature photographic style that digitally captures striking emotions. We gasp every time she posts a new wedding or engagement session to her blog  or Facebook page. OK, so we have gushed enough about her work, now let’s introduce you to Theresa from Theresa Choi Photography:

Tell us a little bit about yourself?
From a young age, I have always enjoyed taking snapshots as a way to remember various events in my life. However, my interest in the art of photography did not begin until I started using a DSLR camera for product photos as I was working as a graphic designer. I was amazed by the high-quality images that I was able to produce with DSLR cameras and decided to explore photography as a hobby. At that time, I would have never dreamed that I would one day work as a professional wedding photographer! Today, I am finishing up my third year as a wedding photographer and I honestly love every minute of it!

What do you enjoy most about being a wedding photographer?
The best thing about being a wedding photographer is having the role of a storyteller through the photographs that I have taken. After spending the day with the bride and groom as well as their friends and family, I get to come home knowing that I have documented one of the most important days in the couples’ lives. Once the wedding is over and all the guests have left, I understand that one of the things that the couple is looking forward to next, are the photos I have captured from their wedding day. This reminds me of what an important job I have as a photographer and I get so excited about telling their story through the photos!

How would you describe your photographic style?
I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art, where I studied fine art and graphic design. My art background influences a large part of the way I photograph weddings. Some key elements that I look for in an image are composition, lighting, and an emotional moment. Whether I capture a shot in a photojournalistic approach or provide posing guidelines to the couple, I strive to create natural and timeless photographs.

What is the biggest trend you have seen in the wedding industry that you have captured?
The biggest trend in the wedding industry that I have seen in the past few years is a “first look,” which is the moment when the bride and groom see each other for the first time before the ceremony. Many of my couples have opted for a first look this past year and it has allowed me to capture the sweet moments as they embrace one another. Usually after the first look, photos of the wedding party and additional bride and groom portraits are made, which frees up some time for the couple to enjoy time with their guests after the ceremony.

What can we expect to see from you in 2012?
In 2012, I plan to continue providing my best work to each and every couple that I would have the privilege of working with on their wedding day. In addition, some of them will be destination weddings so I am looking forward to experiencing new environments, which always inspire me as a photographer!
