We have been working with a couple for their upcoming nuptials in December. Up first was helping them with event decor for their engagement party we did back in April. We started working with our invitation designer Stephanie back in February (see previous post here).

So now that Lauren & Brandon's invitation design was done and mailed

We had the fun task of focusing on the dessert table, guest book and favors for their April 30th engagement party. Their theme is...

Which fits them well..when you are in their presence you will see they are like peanut butter & jelly, french toast with syrup, even better hot chocolate with marshmallows - OK, OK enough with the food analogies, but you get what we mean..they are the epitome of "the perfect pair". Anywhoo, their color scheme for their wedding is pear green, eggplant purple and black.

The "the perfect pair" theme is not a new one but we attempted to put our Savvy Selebrations stamp on it.  To start we knew we wanted to make pear shaped decorated cookies and put them in pairs throughout the dessert table. Having never attempted decorated cookies before, we took it to the net and went to our favorite decorated cookie resource Sweetopia

Sweetopia has the best video tutorials and tips that make you think you can decorate any cookie ever created. We used Sweetopia's sugar cookie dough and royal icing. The best tip we took to heart from reading Sweetopia's blog is give yourself enough time to make decorated cookies. It takes time to make the cookies, then royal icing, then lastly mixing the colored icing. Don't do it when you are tired, rushed or pressured. And remember practice makes perfect!

So we ventured out to make decorated pair cookies for Lauren & Brandon's Engagement

For our first attempt, we think our decorated pear cookies turned out great. After they were completely dry, we added pearlized dust.

For the event, we set up a dessert table filled with cupcakes from Lovella Cupcakes and our pear cookies.  A candy bar was another place where guest could get an instant sugar rush or take some candy home for later :-)

At the entrance, we placed a wishing tree in their color scheme for guest to sending warm wishes and loving thoughts to the perfect pair - Lauren & Brandon.
